Susie Wilkening

Susie Wilkening (she/her) is the Principal of Wilkening Consulting, an audience research firm focusing on the museum field. She has over 25 years of experience in museums, including nearly 20 years fielding groundbreaking research on the role of museums in American society.
In addition to custom research for museums, Susie provides research leadership for the Annual Survey of Museum-Goers, fielded in partnership with the American Alliance of Museums. This on-going research provides insights into museum visitors, including: their motivations for visiting museums, their demographic characteristics, and their values and attitudes on topics related to museum content. She shares research findings with the museum field via infographic Data Stories and is the author of Audiences and Inclusion: A Primer for Cultivating More Inclusive Attitudes Among the Public.
Susie earned an MA from the Winterthur Program in Early American Culture at the University of Delaware. She resides in Seattle with her husband and curious children.
